God Is With Me

God is With Me  ||  Psalm 139:7-12  ||  Jada Darden

For this devotion, we will focus on God being within us. We know that the God we serve is omnipotent and all-knowing. He is everywhere all at once. He knows each one of us inside and out because he is our creator; he knows our thoughts, dreams, mistakes, flaws, and best traits.

Everything there is to know our God knows. Through serving God, we understand that in this walk with Christ, he is not only by our side but also dwells within us.

In this chapter of Psalms, David talks with God and expresses how amazing God is because he looks after us. Who wouldn’t want to serve a God who knows each of our faults? But like the good shepherd he is, he takes care of us anyway, and he loves us unconditionally.

When we sin, he loves us; when we aren’t our best selves, he loves us. Sometimes, you may have no one to turn to, but God is always ready to hear you speak to him. We have chosen to dedicate our lives to Christ by choosing salvation, and God is always with us. As the passage states, there is nowhere you can go that God will not be.

As a believer, you should find comfort in that; find peace in that our God will never forsake or leave us. There have been times I didn’t feel close to God, but he never left me; he has always shown up even when I think I don’t deserve it. His love is agape love, the highest form of love. Because God dwells within us, we must remember to treat our bodies as temples and serve God wholeheartedly. Always know that there is no darkness you can fall into that God cannot bring you out of.

Prayer:
Lord, we come to you as humbly as we know how; we thank you for who you are and the word you have given us. We thank you and praise you for being our shepherd and taking care of us; we thank you for your tender mercies and grace. We exalt your name and will continue to follow you; we repent, dear Lord, forgive us of our sins. Let us know the power in the spirit within us, and Lord, let it cause our heads to hang even higher because we know who our Father is. We thank you and praise your name; in Jesus’ mighty name, we pray, Amen!
